Air Conditioner Kit, 1958-67 Vintage Style for Beetle
Quality Construction: Air Conditioner Kit, 1958-67 Vintage Beetle, Black Textured Under Dash Unit are the finest quality A/C Kits available for your VW. These blow ice cold on even the hottest days (no exaggeration!), and the installation is such that you are not hacking up your car! These have been installed in dozens of show winning vehicles, but the more common usage is in daily drivers! We provide compressor mounting for stock carburetors, or any dual carburetors you may be using, so no matter what you have we have a kit for your car!
This model uses the Black Textured Under Dash Unit. Unlike the original AC Conversions, this kit retains the use of your crankshaft pulley, and a single fan belt, so your crank pulley choices are completely up to you!
The Evaporator Unit is mounted in a location that gets a lot of cool air, other kits choose "poor" mounting locations (with bad air flow), and the Evaporator and Fan Assembly are KEY in how much heat the AC System can remove from the interior of your car!

Installation:
You do not need a machine shop or a fully equipped garage to install this kit, normal hand tools, a couple hole saws, and an electric drill are all that's needed! You only need to drill Five (5) holes through the body, Four (4) for the A/C Hoses, and One (1) for the Evaporator Drain Hose. These kits use environmentally friendly R134A Refrigerant, and use a modern rotary A/C Compressor, for minimal vibration and power loss. In fact, these compressors take approximately 1.2 to1.5hp to drive at full output! This means that even the meager 1200 cc or 40hp VW Engine will be able to drive this compressor, so you can drive your beloved VW in the heat of Summer without having to always bring a change of clothes with you!
